The cultural trip is a guide to nine of Dalarna's most unique and iconic destinations. The 9 destinations in the Cultural Journey are
1. The work, Avesta. Experience a magical mix of history, art and modern technology. From May 14 to September 18, the Verket is home to the recurring exhibition Avesta Art, which brings together world-class Swedish and international contemporary art.
2. Dalarna Museum, Falun. Dalarna's rich cultural history is gathered here. This summer, a temporary exhibition will be shown with previously unexhibited objects from the museum's large collections, focusing on Dalarna cabinets and other painted furniture.
3. Carl Larsson farm, Sundborn/Falun.One of the world's most famous artist homes is located in Sundborn and is an icon of Swedish home decor and family life. The artist Carl Larsson lived here with his wife Karin and their children.
4. Falu Mine, Falun. Explore a place with a thousand years of history. Underground, traces of hundreds of years of mining are visible and during a guided tour you will experience large halls, winding passages and deep shafts.
5. Ornässtugan, Borlänge. Beautifully situated on a promontory in Lake Runn between Borlänge and Falun lies the loft building that was built by a wealthy miner in the early 16th century. Perhaps the most famous visitor is Gustav Eriksson Vasa.
6. Hildasholm, Leksand.The house from 1910 is the wedding gift of the doctor and author Axel Munthe to his wife Hilda Pennington Mellor. In the summer, the two-hectare nature park is in full bloom and around the house there are many imaginative garden rooms.
7. Nils Olsson Dala horses, Nusnäs. See the making of perhaps the world's most famous horse – the Dala horse. Up close you can follow the journey from piece of wood to finished painted icon.
8. Zorn Museum, Mora. Visit the world's largest collection of works by Anders Zorn. After a successful exhibition at the National Museum, several works are now back in Mora. The result is the exhibition "Zorn for the Whole Penny", which will be on display from February 12th to September 4th.
9. Porphyry Museum, Älvdalen. A unique combination of local industrial and cultural treasures is displayed here, where unique collections of porphyry artwork and instruments are gathered in one place.
