The American airline Jetblue is not giving up in the fight to take over low-cost competitor Spirit Airlines. According to the Wall Street Journal, Jetblue is about to make a hostile bid for Spirit Airlines in order to get the company's shareholders to agree to a takeover and also vote against the merger deal with a third party, Frontier.
Jetblue and Frontier have been involved in a tug-of-war over the Florida-based company, and in February it was announced that Spirit had agreed to be acquired by Frontier for $3.6 billion, equivalent to just over 36 billion Swedish kronor.
According to Wall Street Journal sources, Jetblue will now offer $30 per share compared to yesterday's closing price of just under $17 for Spirit Airlines.
