This summer, Småland will be the natural holiday destination for the whole family. With the app “Småländska skaster” (Småland Treasures), Swedish tourists can discover Småland's attractions – while the user collects points by completing tasks in a form of gamification.
Smålands Turism is one of three county tourism organizations in Småland under the collective name Visit Småland. On behalf of Region Jönköping County, Smålands Turism supports the tourism industry in Jönköping County, including through a summer campaign aimed at Swedish tourists.
– On the campaign site guide.visitsmaland.se, the county's tourism companies have the opportunity to be seen free of charge.
and thereby gain visibility in the marketing of the county, says Helene Berg, CEO of Smålands Turism.
APP WITH SMÅLAND REFERENCES
This year's campaign news is the app "Småländska skatter" which will be an extended arm of the campaign site guide.visitsmaland.se.
– We are now in our third summer and this year we are focusing on attracting families with children, which is why we are launching an app where both tourists and residents get tips on activities, places to visit and cozy farm cafes through gamification, says Helene Berg.
The app uses typical Småland icons, such as avatars of the candy cane, the cheesecake and the fairy princess. The user can also collect badges in a game part that involves collecting points by completing missions – all linked to places and companies in Jönköping County. There are a total of 100 missions to complete in the app.
WELL-KNOWN YOUTUBER GUIDES
During the campaign, several inspirations will discover Småland using the app. One of them is YouTuber Tomu, with over 300,000 followers.
– We couldn't have found a better influencer to showcase the app. Tomu is a favorite with the kids and has received great
attention when he was around Småland to test the missions, says Helene Berg.
To promote cycling in the county, they have also chosen to continue their collaboration with local cycling inspiration Elna Dahlstrand. Elna and her daughter Lovis will try out the assignments at the mountain bike facilities.
– Cycling continues to grow exponentially and we stand strong in the competition, not least through Isaberg's investment this year with the inauguration of the largest pump track in the Nordic region. Cycling extends the summer season and the app will also survive after the summer, says Helene Berg.
Another inspiration for the summer is Gränna resident Linnéa Rolfsson, who runs the Instagram account Hemlikheter.
* The app “Småländska skatter” will be launched on June 14, 2022.
