Tokyo has had its hottest June since 1875, with three consecutive days above 35 degrees Celsius. Several people have sought medical attention for heatstroke, Al Jazeera reports.

The extreme heat has led authorities to warn of a shortage of electricity, but they are also appealing to the older part of the population not to turn off their air conditioning.
