A one-day strike among ground staff means that German airline Lufthansa will cancel most flights from its two major hubs – Frankfurt and Munich airports – on Wednesday.

The conflict is increasing the chaos in European air traffic, which has characterized the summer season.

In total, over a thousand flights – 678 in Frankfurt and 345 in Munich – are being cancelled and the effects will be felt until the weekend, according to Lufthansa. The space to rebook flights for affected passengers is extremely limited in the near future, according to the airline.
