Budget airline Ryanair will be fined $781,270 by the Hungarian government for passing on the costs of a new tax to its customers, according to Bloomberg News.
The Hungarian Consumer Protection Authority has imposed the fine on Ryanair. The background to the fine is that Ryanair has chosen to pass on a recently introduced Hungarian profit tax to its passengers.
Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary has previously criticized the new tax, and the company says it is prepared to appeal all the way to the European Court of Justice.
Ryanair's shares are currently trading down 0.6 percent.
