Finnish airline Finnair is to implement a comprehensive cost-cutting package. The company will reduce costs by 15 percent compared to 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic.

In addition to reducing its aircraft fleet, the company will also review its route network and, according to a press release, offer "a more geographically balanced route network.".

Finnair, which has primarily focused on long-haul flights from Europe to Asia, has been hit hard by lockdowns in China, among others, in connection with the pandemic. In addition, the war in Ukraine has meant that it has no longer been able to fly over Russian airspace, which has drastically increased fuel costs, among other things.
