The European low-cost airline Wizz Air continues to have strong confidence in the Swedish market's desire to travel and is expanding with another direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter to Rome ahead of the summer program.

Wizz Air continues to expand in Sweden and is now launching another direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport in connection with the summer program 2023. From the end of spring, you can fly directly between western Sweden and the Italian capital. The direct connection meets demand from both Swedish holidaymakers and those traveling to visit family, relatives and friends. The increased availability is also positive for the regional business community and the tourism industry. 

With the new route to its base in Rome, Wizz Air will offer a total of eight direct routes from Gothenburg to destinations in Central and Eastern Europe this summer.

The direct route will be the third to Italy from Landvetter and the schedule is perfect for a long weekend. The increased availability is long-awaited by Swedes who want to visit fantastic Rome and other parts of Italy, but is also important for the regional tourism industry, says Anna Stromwall, Airport Director at Swedavia Gothenburg Landvetter Airport. 

Wizz Air will be the sole operator of the Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) – Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) route, which has been closed for two years. Starting on 30 April 2023, Wizz Air will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays, year-round, with an Airbus 321 Neo. The aircraft has 239 seats and its fuel-efficient engines contribute to lower emissions. Like other airlines, Wizz Air offers the opportunity to offset your travel costs.
