Bernard Arnault, the owner of French luxury giant LVMH, said he sold his private plane after Twitter users began tracking his flights online, Arnault told Radio Classique, according to Bloomberg News.

Arnault is now renting private planes instead after selling the company-owned plane. The decision to sell the plane came after Twitter accounts like ”I Fly Bernard” and ”Bernard's Airplane” emerged, accounts that only followed the aircraft's movements.

”With all these stories, the group actually had an airplane and we sold it,” Arnault said.

”"The result now is that no one can see where I'm going because I rent planes when I use private planes.".

Arnault has been the subject of much backlash in France for his use of private jets. Critics used the information on Twitter to point out how much pollution it caused. The criticism even led some French politicians to propose a ban or tax on private jets.

Bernard Arnault owns nearly 50 percent of the shares in LVMH. According to Forbes, he is worth $152 billion, equivalent to 1,682 billion kronor. With that, only Tesla founder Elon Musk is richer on the planet.
