Several museums in Denmark are closing to the public due to high energy costs, reports TT, citing the Danish news agency Ritzau.
Several of them are also reportedly laying off staff.
Now the national organization of museums wants urgent support to handle the situation.
– In the same way that we received help during the corona, we are calling for some kind of aid package to be able to preserve cultural heritage, says Nils M. Jensen, head of the Danish Museums Organization, to Ritzau.
– If nothing happens, I expect we will see more closures and more layoffs.
