The winners of Värmland's Tourism Prize, Newcomer of the Year and Essay of the Year have been honored during Värmland's Tourism Industry Days

During Värmland's Tourism Industry Days in Charlottenberg, Visit Värmland has honored both finalists and winners of Värmland's Tourism Prize, Entrepreneur of the Year and Essay of the Year.

– The Visitor Industry Days are an opportunity to meet, network, get to know each other and take part in interesting lectures and good examples from the industry. The Visitor Industry Days are rich in content and this year's theme is Together for a more attractive Värmland 2.0. It is also the occasion when we pay tribute to our good role models from the tourism industry a little extra, says Mia Landin, CEO of Visit Värmland.

Värmland Tourism Award

Earlier this fall, Mattila Nature & Culture Association was named the winner of the Värmland Tourism Award 2022 and is Värmland's contribution to the Great Tourism Award 2022, but it is only now that they have been truly celebrated in Värmland. Now they have been hailed as worthy winners who have more than met the assessment criteria and have demonstrated innovative power and positive development.

Upstart of the Year

The Upstart of the Year is Bowter. Visit Värmland is awarding an honorary mention to the Upstart of the Year and with this award we want to highlight an actor who, through innovative thinking, development of existing operations or new start-up, has excelled in the tourism industry in Värmland. 

Finalists for Upstart of the Year:

  • Annika and Peter Svensson, enthusiasts who develop Svartå/Sjötullen/Villa Lungsbo
  • Bower
  • Villa Fryksta

Essay of the Year

The Essay of the Year award is given to the best essay focusing on Värmland's tourism industry. The winner of the Essay of the Year is Brands in place and destination marketing written by Saga Lundmark & Linn Sjökvist.

  • Tourists' experiences of service meetings – Elvira Berglund & Elise Åhlberg
  • The power of natural disasters on destination marketing – Alexia Holse & Hampus Stedt
  • Brands in place and destination marketing – Saga Lundmark & Linn Sjökvist

”"Saga Lundmark and Linn Sjökvist have written a thorough essay that highlights the importance of brands for place and destination marketing purposes. They examine the significance of the Värmland brand and how Värmland municipalities manage local and regional brands. In the essay, the authors discuss challenges, opportunities and possible improvements linked to brands and marketing. Saga and Linn's essay shows the importance of working strategically with brands to benefit the development of Värmland's tourism industry."”

Director of the Tourism Programme Fredrik Hoppstadius, together with a group of assessors, has read and assessed approved bachelor's theses in tourism science from the spring semester 2022. The prize goes to an essay that meets the criteria and where the purpose and results of the essay will benefit the Värmland tourism industry.
