The winter tourism company Skistar is suffering from a booking situation that is 13 percent worse than last year and 3 percent worse than the winter season before the pandemic.
At the same time, the company reports a rising operating loss in the first quarter of the broken fiscal year.

Skistar's net sales during the first quarter, the period September to November, came to SEK 177 million, which can be compared with SEK 155 million during the corresponding period last year. A success for the company's investment in mountain tourism all year round, according to the company.

At the same time, Skistar reports an operating loss of SEK 390 million, which can be compared with SEK 315 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

”"The booking situation is on par with the last comparable winter season before the pandemic," says CEO Stefan Sjöstrand in his CEO's statement.

In figures, it is minus 3 percent, the company's report further states. The main explanation, according to Skistar, is a negative calendar effect during the Christmas and New Year weeks.

”"Another reason is that we are seeing a later order intake than in previous years, as more people are booking closer to arrival," writes Stefan Sjöstrand.

Compared to the previous year, the booking situation is a full 13 percent worse. The explanation for this is travel restrictions that had a positive effect on travel within Sweden, according to Skistar.

According to a review by Di earlier this year, Skistar has raised lift ticket prices significantly ahead of the ski season. The most expensive time to buy a lift ticket will be during Stockholm's sports holiday week, week nine. During the sports holiday weeks, the company has raised prices by 7 percent for a weekly ticket. In Sälen, a weekly ticket cost 2,433 kronor during week nine of 2022 and next year the price will be 2,601 kronor.
