The American home rental service Airbnb rose about 9 percent in American after-hours trading on Tuesday evening after both results and revenue beat analysts' expectations in the company's interim report.
Earnings per share in the fourth quarter amounted to $0.48 per share, clearly above expectations of $0.27 per share according to consensus estimates at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Revenues landed at $1.9 billion, also above the advance estimates of $1.86 billion.
Airbnb wrote in its report that travel demand has been strong despite inflation and economic uncertainty. The company also noted that Americans are taking advantage of a strong dollar to travel abroad.
Airbnb hosts saw growing demand for city center stays, the company said, according to Dow Jones. This has been a weak spot during the pandemic, and therefore shows signs that travel patterns are continuing to normalize.
