Aviareps has been appointed as Visit Malta's local representative in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Iceland for the next three years.
Aviareps will market Malta with the aim of increasing the number of Nordic visitors to the country. Through a mix of PR, marketing and advertising services, Malta's diverse tourist offerings will be presented to Nordic travellers, with a focus on sustainability.
The Aviareps Nordic team will be responsible for promoting Malta as an inclusive year-round leisure and business destination, for meetings, MICE, conferences, and exhibitions. The main target groups are couples, honeymooners, families, and solo travellers seeking unique authentic experiences.
The number of visitors from the Nordic countries to Malta in 2022 exceeded 76,000, which corresponds to approximately 62% of the pre-pandemic visitor numbers in 2019. Compared with the previous year, 2021, the increase is almost 150%.
”Tourism to Malta has seen a strong recovery post-pandemic, and 2023 is set to be a very positive year. The islands of Malta and Gozo are year-round destinations offering a wide range of genuine, authentic experiences and varied activities for tourists. The Maltese islands are known for long sunshine hours, beautiful clear seas, World Heritage Sites, an extensive events calendar, delicious Mediterranean cuisine, and the warm hospitality with which locals welcome visitors. The MTA (Malta Tourism Authority) is very pleased to enter into this new cooperation with Aviareps, who are representatives for the Maltese islands in the region. We look forward to more interesting and creative marketing activities with the aim of strengthening Visit Malta's brand awareness and attracting more tourists and business travellers from the Nordic countries,” says Carlo Micallef, Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer at Malta Tourism Authority.
”It is with great pride and joy that we begin our collaboration with MTA and look forward to starting our mission. Aviareps” local teams in each Nordic country will promote the destination Malta in their respective markets. We also encourage interested parties in the travel industry to actively contact us to showcase Malta, this jewel among destinations in Europe and the Mediterranean," says Tapani Kauhanen, General Manager for Aviareps in the Nordics.
Visit Malta will be present at the Ferie for Alle exhibition from 24th-26th February.
