Aarhus, Denmark – TIME Magazine has just released its annual list of ”World's Greatest Places,” and this time Aarhus is on the list along with several of the city's attractions. This has naturally brought great joy and pride to the city's residents.

Aarhus has been selected as one of 50 places on the magazine's list of "World's Greatest Places", published today. Aarhus is the only place in Scandinavia and one of 11 places in Europe to be named in the list.

”"We are extremely proud that Aarhus and many of the city's attractions have been selected for TIME's list. This is proof that the Aarhus region has something very special to offer and that it is also well-known all over the world. At VisitAarhus, we work hard together with VisitDenmark to gain international publicity, and it is therefore extra nice when a well-respected magazine like TIME gives us such great attention," says Pia Lange Christensen, CEO of VisitAarhus.

TIME Magazine highlights Aarhus for its coastline, gastronomy, architecture and sky. Moesgaard Museum, ARoS, Ole Rømer Observatory, Dokk1, hamnbadet and Salling are on the list along with the restaurants Frederikshøj and Substans. In addition, this summer's big sailing event The Ocean Race is mentioned as another experience to enjoy in Aarhus.

This mention of Aarhus is the latest in a series of international recognitions for the region. Previously, The Guardian has written about the ”Smiling City” and the Tolkien landscape of Djursland. In January, American Vogue drew the attention of its 1.2 million readers to the Danish winter bathing tradition. The article mentioned Havnebadet in Aarhus and Almindsø in Silkeborg.

”"The great international publicity helps to attract even more guests from all over the world to the Aarhus region. We can see that both international media and visitors show great interest in our attractions and area. This is really pleasing for us because it means increased awareness and more visitors," says Pia Lange Christensen.

The Aarhus region can look back on a fantastic year for tourism in 2022, with a record number of overnight stays, 16.1 percent more than in 2019, which is the last "normal" tourist year.

According to the press release.
