How the train strike could affect your trip

Time is running out. But there was still no offer for unions and employers in the train conflict to take a stand on. The risk that the announced train strike will break out today is increasing with every hour.

This is what the three-stage strike notice rocket looks like.

May 11 at 3 p.m. – Öresund trains are affected

A first strike will be launched on May 11th if the parties have not reached an agreement. The Öresund trains in Skåne will then be in the conflict line when the train drivers employed by the operator Transdev will go on strike.

In addition, workshop staff and cleaners at the train operator MTR in Älvsjö, Stockholm, will stop work. This will affect commuter train traffic in Stockholm to some extent. And even if the conflict does not break out, traffic will be affected for a few days because it requires traffic to be replanned, SL writes in a press release.

Euromaint in Gothenburg is also on strike. The company services SJ trains. The company says it is unclear how a possible conflict will play out.

SJ states on its website that the following routes may be affected by disruptions from May 12:

High-speed train Stockholm – Malmö – Copenhagen

High-speed train Stockholm – Gothenburg

Regional train Gothenburg –Kalmar

Night train Gothenburg –Duved/Umeå

May 15 – Västra Götaland regional traffic affected

In phase two, from May 15, the Stockholm metro's red line will go on strike. At the same time, regional traffic in Mälardalen will stop when the train drivers at MTR Mälartåg stop working. In addition, SJ's regional traffic in Västra Götaland will be affected when the train drivers at SJ Götalandståg go on strike.

May 18 – Commuter trains in Skåne and freight trains in northern Norrland are affected

If the parties still have not managed to agree on a collective agreement by then, SJ's long-distance train services will also be affected by the conflict when the LO union Seko's third stage of the strike is unleashed from May 18. The Pågatågen in Skåne as well as train freight in northern Norrland and on the west coast will then be taken out in a full-scale train strike.

On Tuesday, the employer side Almega Tågföretagen stated that they expected an offer from the mediators on Tuesday evening. Nothing of the kind appeared, according to what the parties conveyed to TT last night. Today such an offer should come, if Seko and Tågföretagen are to have time to respond to the offer before the strike becomes a fact.

But at lunchtime, the parties are still in a state of uncertainty. The director of the Swedish Railways Association, Pierre Sandberg, has no information to give about the mediators' timetable.

In addition to the strike threat, Seko is imposing an overtime notice and ban on new hires across the entire train industry, which will come into effect on May 11.
