The number of rented hotel rooms decreased by 2.5 percent during the first four weeks of May compared to the same time last year, according to the industry organization Visita.

However, revenue increased by 8 percent, despite fewer rooms being booked. Hotels therefore received more money for the rooms.

”"It is pleasing that demand is not falling further. We are in a period of great economic uncertainty on the cost side and are now seeing the number of rooms sold falling, so all cost-cutting measures are welcome right now," writes Thomas Jakobsson, chief economist at Visita, in a press release.
