A five-star hotel in the Turkish resort of Antalya has been hit by a major salmonella outbreak, reports the Daily Mail.

Around 30 families who visited the resort say they have been infected.

Their dream vacation has turned into a nightmare with both adults and children being treated at the hotel's own clinic.

There are suspicions that the infection was spread through food and parents testify that children do not dare to eat for fear of being infected.

According to the newspaper, cases of salmonella have been reported in the Easter period, but according to the tour operator TUI, it may be the highly contagious norovirus that causes vomiting and diarrhea.
