The amusement park group Parks and Resorts recently submitted its financial statements for 2022. The parks were visited by just over 2.7 million guests, with sales increasing by 30% compared to 2021 to 1.6 billion. This paves the way for the investments that Parks and Resorts plans to make in all parks in the future.

The amusement park group Parks and Resorts, which includes Gröna Lund, Kolmården, Skara Sommarland and Furuvik, reports a turnover of just over SEK 1.6 billion for 2022 (just over SEK 1.2 million in 2021), which is an increase of 30 %. In 2022, the group's facilities were visited by 2.7 million guests, compared to 1.9 million guests in 2021.
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND COMMENTS PER PARK
GREEN GROVE
Gröna Lund continued with the business model of dividing the day into two different shifts, with a limited capacity and an enhanced guest experience. During the year, Gröna Lund was able to resume its concert initiative with several major acts on stage such as Zara Larsson, Greta Van Fleet and Dua Lipa. Halloween was once again a success and in December the new themed season Winter Wonderland premiered, which extended into January 2023. With winter-open attractions, a temporary sledding hill and radio cars on ice, combined with a themed food and game selection, Gröna Lund was now able to offer its guests something they had never experienced before. In 2022, the Land and Environmental Court of Appeal confirmed the Stockholm City Development Plan regarding the Skeppsholmsviken quarter, the parking lot at Gröna Lund. This ruling cannot be appealed, which means that the legal process that lasted over 6 years is now over and the design of the new funfair area in the parking lot has begun.
The number of guests amounted to 1,290,950 (810,432). Total turnover amounted to SEK 729.2 (537.3) million, which is an increase of 36 % compared to the previous year. Operating profit amounted to SEK -8.4 (87.2) million, corresponding to an operating margin of -1% (16%). The lower result in 2022 is mainly an effect of increased property maintenance and start-up and establishment costs for Winter Wonderland.
KOLMÅRDEN AND THE WILDLAND HOTEL
Kolmården had a very good year with record attendance in the park and high occupancy at Vildmarkshotellet. For the 2022 season, the themed area Bamses Värld was expanded and there was also the premiere of a new Bamse performance. Kolmården invested primarily in an expansion of the themed area Bamses Värld. In addition to new game, food and shop units, the new area also includes a new ride attraction, Skalmans Flygskola.
The number of guests amounted to 760,138 (606,545), which is an increase of 25 % compared to the previous year. Vildmarkshotellet sold 42,299 (29,743) hotel rooms. Total turnover amounted to 555.6 (421.2) SEK million, which is an increase of 32 % compared to the previous year. Operating profit amounted to 41.9 (16.2) SEK million, corresponding to an operating margin of 8% (4%).
SKARA SUMMERLAND
Skara Sommarland had a very good season, with relatively good weather and very good occupancy at the campsite. On March 1, 2022, Christine Karmfalk took up the position as CEO of Skara Sommarland. Christine is also previously CEO of Kolmården. Skara Sommarland invested in security and property-related maintenance.
The number of guests amounted to 276,223 (230,327). Total turnover amounted to SEK 132.6 (130.5) million, which is an increase of 2 % compared to the previous year. Operating profit amounted to SEK 22.7 (32.6) million, corresponding to an operating margin of SEK 17% (25%).
FURUVIK
Once the park opened in May, no restrictions remained, and Furuvik was able to operate on a normal scale for the first time since 2019, with concert activities once again taking up a large space in the park. The numerous well-attended concerts with, for example, Lars Winnerbäck, Brad Paisley and Tomas Ledin, combined with the investment in Pelle Svanslös and an expanded Halloween investment, meant that the park set a new visitor record. Furuvik invested in a new animal enclosure and a new children's show with Pelle Svanslös. In 2022, Furuvik also began construction of the new roller coaster Lightning from the manufacturer Vekoma, which will premiere in 2023. In December, a serious incident occurred in Furuvik when four chimpanzees tragically had to be euthanized in connection with an escape.
The number of guests amounted to 377,402 (215,236). Total turnover amounted to SEK 201.5 (141.4) million, which is an increase of SEK 43 million compared to the previous year. Operating profit amounted to SEK 30.1 (24.6) million, corresponding to an operating margin of SEK 15 million (17 million).
