It is now clear who will be the new CEO of Höga Kusten Destinationsutveckling after Mia Karlsson moves on to other assignments. Mattias Peterson from Skövde, currently head of business for Tibro municipality, will take over the assignment from November 1, 2023.
– This feels really exciting. The High Coast is one of Sweden's absolute strongest place brands and to have the opportunity to work with it and contribute to the development here is truly an inspiring assignment. Ever since I lived in Härnösand in the late 1990s, I have had a longing to return as more than just a casual visitor and when this opportunity opened up, I couldn't help but apply. There is an absolutely magical attraction to this place, says Mattias Peterson before his move from Skövde and Skaraborg.
Broad experience from the private and public sectors
Mattias Peterson is 54 years old and comes from Skövde. Since January 2019, he has worked as a business manager in Tibro Municipality and has a broad background with experience in business development, the tourism industry and place development in general. In assignments as regional manager in both Företagarna and LRF and many years as business policy manager in Fastighetsägarna GFR, Mattias has developed his experience of sustainable development at the interface between the private and public sectors. Mattias Peterson is also a member of the board of Svenska Stadskärnor, an organization with a focus on urban and place development.
– I believe that the insight into the incentives and agendas of both companies and the public sector is a good and important experience for this assignment. I have worked for many years in that borderland and have a great understanding of the different driving forces that motivate actors on both the private and public sides. Getting them to continue to meet and develop according to a common strategy is the key to sustainable place and destination development, Mattias continues.
A fantastic development
The High Coast has had fantastic development in recent years, both in strategic work going forward and in an increase in both guest nights, range and attractiveness. Outgoing CEO Mia Karlsson looks back on great years:
– I feel confident that Mattias, along with the rest of the team at Höga Kusten Destination Development and other partners, will continue to work towards the vision – always one level higher – in a fantastic way. I am and will continue to be a committed Höga Kusten resident and thus contribute towards the vision that I, together with many others, have worked towards in recent years. It has been a privilege to work on this assignment on a daily basis together with so many wonderful people, says Mia Karlsson, who is now handing over the baton to Mattias.
Continuing the High Coast's journey towards 2030
– We live and work in a magnificent destination that many are very proud of. I will continue in Mia's spirit and manage the fine foundation she has built. I look forward to continuing the journey the destination has begun, together with all the competent people at Höga Kusten Destination Development and in our four owner municipalities. Höga Kusten also has very talented and driven entrepreneurs that I look forward to getting to know, concludes Mattias Peterson.
