All train traffic between Stockholm Gothenburg and Stockholm Malmö is at a standstill.
According to the Swedish Transport Administration, several overhead lines have been torn down between Flen and Gnesta.
– We do not know at this time that they have been demolished. We do not believe it is related to the weather. The most common is that a train has managed to demolish it, says Felicia Danielsson, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.
The lines were reportedly torn down at 2 p.m. and traffic has been at a standstill since then.
– We are on site and working on it now, but we have no forecast for when it will be finished, says Felicia Danielsson.
The stretch where the lines were torn down is common to both the southern and western main lines.
A traveler who Aftonbladet spoke to was traveling by train from Stockholm to Gothenburg. It stopped a bit outside Flen.
– We stood still for almost an hour before they opened all the doors, they have opened up towards the forest side. People are walking around and picking some blueberries, says the traveler.
