The number of Danish travelers increased dramatically on Stena Line's ships to Sweden during the summer, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

According to Stena Line, this is an increase of 41 percent, while the number of Swedish travelers has decreased by 18 percent. During a rainy summer, it is not the weather that is behind the development - rather, it is a currency effect as the Swedish krona has plummeted in value.

”"Of course, the Swedish krona exchange rate affects the number of Danes traveling to Sweden, as food, accommodation and shopping have become increasingly cheaper for them," says Stena Line's commercial manager Ulf Staff in a comment.

To meet the high pressure, Stena Line has introduced five extra departures a week between Fredrikshamn and Gothenburg.
