The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will evacuate Swedes from Israel and Palestinian areas, writes Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) to TT.

”"We have been following the situation in Israel and Palestine hour by hour, together with the other Nordic countries. The government has been planning for different scenarios and has been prepared throughout. Last night a decision was made that assisted departure should be implemented, in cooperation with other countries," says Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) in a comment to TT.

The evacuation flights will take off from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. There is no set date for when the departure will take place.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that approximately 3,000 people with connections to Sweden are in Israel, and 800 in the Palestinian territories. According to TT, Swedes who are there are asked to register with the Ministry's so-called Swedish list, after which they will be contacted.
