SL announced in a press release on Wednesday that they are terminating the commuter train assignment for MTR prematurely.
Which means that a new operator will take over the operation of the commuter trains in the Stockholm Region from March 2024.
The reason is that the operation of commuter train services has not reached expected levels.
– Commuter train traffic in the Stockholm region has had serious disruptions in operations over the past year. This has had a very negative impact on our passengers. So now we are choosing together to terminate the agreement, says David Lagneholm, CEO of SL and Head of Administration at the Transport Administration in the press release.
The new operator to take over commuter train traffic will be SJ, announced regional traffic councilor Anton Fendert (MP) at a press conference, reports DN.
