Lufthansa takes off after strong report

Aviation giant Lufthansa is rising about 7 percent after reporting an adjusted operating profit higher than preliminary estimates and confirming guidance for 2023.

Lufthansa reported adjusted EBIT for the third quarter of 1.47 billion euros, an increase of 31 percent compared to the previous year and slightly above the average analyst consensus estimate of 1.43 billion euros, according to Lufthansa on the company's website, Reuters notes.

The adjusted The EBIT margin at the same time amounted to 15.9 percent (9.5). 

Sales were recorded at EUR 8.5 billion (7.5), an increase of 14 percent. 

Due to falling costs and higher demand for flights, Lufthansa expects to report a positive operating profit for the fourth quarter.
