The GDL union has announced a 20-hour strike from Wednesday evening for employees at the German state railways, Deutsche Bahn.

The origin of the planned strike is disagreement in wage negotiations, which began last week.

GDL is demanding wage increases equivalent to SEK 6,000 per month, a one-off payment of up to SEK 35,000 to counteract inflation, and a shorter workweek without affecting wages.

Deutsche Bahn has offered employees a pay raise of around 11 percent. Martin Seiler, Deutsche Bahn's human resources manager, accuses GDL management of not being interested in solutions.

This spring, members of the EVG union went on strike. Negotiations with Deutsche Bahn resulted in arbitration proceedings where both parties accepted the outcome.
