Car rental company Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr has called Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath and asked if it is possible to postpone the purchases of electric cars that were planned for 2024. This is reported by the Financial Times.

According to the newspaper, Polestar has agreed to Hertz's request on the condition that Hertz does not sell its existing Polestar cars too early or too cheaply.

Hertz has declined to comment on the information.

In 2022, Hertz signed an agreement to buy 65,000 Polestar cars over five years in a deal that is likely worth $3 billion, the Financial Times reports. Hertz also signed an agreement to buy 100,000 Tesla-cars. However, at the end of last year, Hertz announced that it would sell some of its Tesla-cars. They do not apply to Hertz Sweden.
