Since the devastating fire at Oceana, Liseberg's operations have slowly reopened step by step. The work after the accident is complex and there are still many questions that remain, but Liseberg also needs to cautiously start looking ahead.
Now work continues towards opening Lisebergsparken as planned and welcoming guests to the 101st season, premiering on April 20.
–We will always carry the fire accident with us, but at the same time it is important that we dare to look forward, because tomorrow will come. The very purpose of why Liseberg exists is to create joyful experiences together, for young and old. Continuing to offer just that has probably never been more important., says Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.
Despite the extensive damage to Oceana, it was clear early on that both Grand Curiosa Hotel and Lisebergsparken had escaped completely and would be able to reopen to guests. The hotel has already opened up for accommodation experiences and restaurant visits, and now Liseberg is aiming for a summer in the amusement park with rides, cotton candy, live entertainment and joyful moments together for both guests and employees.
– Cautiously daring to think about tomorrow does not diminish the sadness we still find ourselves in. Every step we take towards so-called normal operations has been weighed on a gold scale and eventually being able to open the amusement park as planned means a huge amount, says Robert Arvidsson, Commercial Manager at Liseberg.
