The government has decided that it will be 100 kronor more expensive to go out into the wide world.
The fee for applying for a new passport will be increased from 400 to 500 SEK starting on May 1.
The government justifies the decision by saying that the Police Authority's passport operations are fee-financed and that the fees paid when applying for a passport should cover the costs of the operations.
”"A fee increase is required so that the Police Authority can maintain the service level and so that the deficit in passport operations does not increase," the Government Offices write in a press release.
