The passenger ferry Marco Polo will be put back into service in mid-2024, local media reports.
In October last year, the ship ran aground in Pukaviksbukten in Blekinge, releasing a large amount of oil into the sea. The shipping company TT-Line writes in a press release that up to 55 tons of oil leaked into the water, which required cleanup along a 25-kilometer stretch of coastline. So far, approximately 46 tons of oil have been recovered from the sea.
TT-Line states that a ”human navigation error” caused the grounding – and thus the spill – and that the ferry was in good condition when it left the port of Trelleborg.
