Finnair is suspending flights to Tartu, Estonia, for a month due to GPS interference in the area, which could make it difficult for planes to take off and land.
All departures to Tartu are cancelled between April 29 and May 31 for safety reasons, while "an alternative solution that does not require GPS will be put in place at Tartu Airport," Finnair announces.
The airline adds that it is ”fairly common for disruptions in the area.”.
Several flights have been canceled in recent days. Last week, two planes were forced to return to Vantaa Airport in Helsinki due to GPS interference.
Finnair is the only airline that flies internationally from Tartu.
GPS interference for Finnish flights has increased since 2022. Russia is suspected of being behind it, reports Yle.
The GPS interference is about Russian hybrid warfare, according to Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
