The yellow postboxes will become fewer. Before the summer, Postnord will remove 13 percent of the country's letterboxes, which P4 Sjuhärad Be the first to report.

The background to the decision is an inventory which has shown that the mailboxes are not being used. Over the past 14 years, the number of letters sent has decreased by 65 percent and the quantity of mailboxes is adapted for the old volumes, says PostNord's press officer Anders Porelius.

”Every day we travel nine times around the Earth and if we can reduce these distances, we will of course do so from a sustainability perspective. It's also unnecessary for employees to travel and empty empty mailboxes,” he tells TT.

2,900 out of a total of 22,000 letterboxes are to be removed, but there could be more, says Anders Porelius.

”We are looking into whether we should expand this.”
