China is tightening border controls to prevent the Mpox virus from entering the country, reports the Spanish news agency Efe. Airplanes, boats and travelers from countries where the infection has been confirmed will be subject to extra checks.

On Thursday, the government and the Public Health Agency of Sweden noted that Sweden, as the first country in the world outside Africa, has had its first case.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the outbreak of mpox in Africa as an international health emergency.
