In November 2024, the airline Tradewind Aviation will expand its scheduled direct flights with a new route to Tortola and Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

The service to Tortola will depart from San Juan, Puerto Rico and operate five days a week (Thursday-Monday) from November 21, 2024 to April 21, 2025. Tortola serves as a central hub for travelers to all islands within the British Virgin Islands, but the island is also a hub for those traveling on to the neighboring US Virgin Islands.

The new route complements the improved flight connections previously announced:

  • American Airlines offers daily direct flights from Miami, with four flights on Saturdays and three flights on other days.
  • Caribbean Airlines announces the launch of its new route to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, effective October 14, 2024. This expansion is part of the airline’s strategic plan to better connect the Caribbean region and enhance its robust network. The flights will operate four (4) times weekly from the airline’s base in Trinidad, offering convenient connections to other destinations, including but not limited to Antigua, Barbados and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tickets for the new route to Tortola will be available for purchase starting August 12, 2024.
  • Tradewind Aviation will also launch a direct route from San Juan to Virgin Goda and Taddy Bay International Airport in the British Virgin Islands this year, with a premiere on November 21, 2024.
  • Winair has daily flights from Tortola to Antigua & Barbuda and St Maarten, as well as two flights a week to St Kitts. Antigua is an important hub for many European airlines.
  • German airline Condor has announced a new direct route every Tuesday from Frankfurt to Antigua, starting on November 5, 2024.

Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, is surrounded by white beaches that are ideal for snorkeling and swimming. The island is also an excellent base for sailing, with several charter companies offering both sailboats and powerboats.

Virgin Goda, the third largest island in the British Virgin Islands, has a varied and dramatic landscape with unique swimming opportunities at the giant granite boulders ”The Baths”. The island is home to several of the Caribbean’s best resorts offering relaxation and first-class service.
