The major airports in both Norway and Denmark have extensive anti-drone systems, reports SVT Nyheter. But not Arlanda.

SVT has visited Gardermoen in Oslo, where a central control center has been set up for drone flights at several airports in the country. The staff can detect and document drones, as well as locate drone pilots.

According to Nikola Tufekcic, head of Norwegian Avinor's anti-drone program, the equipment has helped them a lot.

”"For us, it's a question of flight safety," Tufekivc tells SVT. 

After several incidents, Kastrup in Copenhagen chose to acquire an anti-drone system.

”"We have invested in advanced technology to detect and identify drones in the airspace around the airport," Johnnie Müller, head of security at Copenhagen Airport, told DN last week.

However, Arlanda lacks, for which Swedavia is responsible, a system for finding and repelling drones, which both DN and SVD report on.

Swedavia does not want to comment on safety, but according to the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration, there is neither technology to repel drones nor locate drone pilots flying over Arlanda, SVT reports.

Recently, air traffic at Arlanda was paralyzed for a few hours due to suspected drones in the area. However, it is unclear whether it was a drone.

The police state that Swedavia has not been able to provide documentation beyond visual observations from last Sunday.

”"It would probably be time to review the part of being able to detect drones and, above all, dismiss various indications. This involves large costs," says Per Engström, section chief at the police's National Operations Department (NOA) to SVT.
