Foreign visitors to Sweden spent significantly more money this summer than the previous year. According to the company Nets, which offers payment solutions for various credit and debit cards, foreign card purchases increased by 6.8 percent based on turnover, compared to the previous summer.
The largest share of total turnover was in Strömstad and Stockholm, with just over 20 percent each. Cross-border trade in Strömstad contributed to Norwegian visitors accounting for the largest share of total turnover.
When it comes to the largest average purchase, however, the list is topped by Irish visitors (1,450 SEK) and then tourists from China (874 SEK according to Nets).
