The Gothenburg region with Swedavia's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport has been named the best logistics location in the Nordic region by the newspaper Dagens Logistik. The award concerns the newspaper's measurement of logistics hubs, where the Gothenburg region was named Sweden's leading logistics hub in both 2023 and 2024. Through strong air connections, the Nordic region's largest port and Sweden's hub for international import and export, the Gothenburg region remains the country's and the Nordic region's most important and leading logistics location.
-Sweden's second largest airport, Gothenburg Landvetter, is West Sweden's gateway to the world and it is of course very pleasing that the Gothenburg region has been designated as the Nordic region's leading logistics location. With its proximity to the Oslo-Copenhagen-Stockholm triangle, Gothenburg and Landvetter continue to be the natural logistics hub for both freight within Scandinavia and Europe. The motivation from Dagens Logistik
Industrial hub Gothenburg, with the largest container port in the Nordic region and a well-developed railway network, is an important logistics hub for the entire Nordic region, and central for imports as well as exports. In terms of infrastructure, the port is complemented by a land infrastructure of strong road, rail and air connections (Landvetter Airport), making it a logistics center for the Nordic region.
Within the framework of Airport City at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, plans are already being made for Logistics Park No. 2, a center for future logistics management in the Gothenburg region with modern logistics buildings totaling 350,000 square meters. The development of freight via Gothenburg Landvetter Airport has been very positive, with an increase of 33 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport employs 3,500 employees in approximately 100 employers, making the airport one of the largest and most important workplaces in Western Sweden. The airport offers a wide range of destinations with over 50 routes, of which just over 15 are charter destinations. In 2024, over 5.3 million passengers passed through the airport, which is an increase of 3 percent compared to 2023. International travel increased by 6 percent while domestic travel decreased by 20 percent.
