Since the beginning of the year, bookings to the UK have increased by over 24 percent, making the country the sixth most booked travel destination for Swedes. However, the recently introduced entry permit has led to a clear change in booking behavior. According to travel agency Ticket's booking statistics, the number of bookings has decreased by almost 22 percent compared to the week before the requirement came into effect.
Since the beginning of the year, interest in travel to the UK has been on the rise. According to travel agency Ticket booking statistics, the total number of bookings has increased by over 24 percent compared to 2024, placing the country in sixth place among the most booked countries so far this year. However, at the same time, Ticket has seen a change in booking behavior since the entry permit was introduced. Since April 2, bookings have decreased by almost 22 percent compared to the week before the requirement came into effect.
– We see a clear change in customer behavior and notice that the entry permit creates uncertainty – at the same time it is a natural reaction to an unexpected change in travel conditions, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
Booking statistics show that the extra administrative burden and cost of entry permits affect Swedes' booking behaviour. Despite this, the UK, and especially London, remains a very attractive destination. There is much evidence that interest will return as soon as there is greater clarity about what entry permits actually entail.
