Boeing's loss smaller than expected

The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has reported a smaller than expected loss for the first quarter.

Boeing ended the quarter with an adjusted loss of $0.49 per share, compared with expectations of a loss of $1.30, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Revenue was $19.5 billion, compared with expectations of $19.8 billion.

The company stated in The report states that it is following the plan to increase production of the 737 model to 38 aircraft per month in the coming months.

Looking at the different business areas, Commercial Airplanes reported an operating loss of $537 million. Defense, Space & Security had a positive operating profit of $155 million and Global Services had an operating profit of $943 million.

On Wednesday afternoon, the stock rose 3.5 percent in pre-market trading.
