The co-pilot was alone in the cockpit when his colleague had gone to the toilet, reports TV2.

Then he fainted. For ten minutes, the Lufthansa flight, which was en route from Frankfurt to Seville, flew on autopilot.

The incident occurred in February last year. The pilot, who had been to the toilet, repeatedly tried to get into the cockpit without success. Finally, he entered an emergency code and the door opened.

Lufthansa has launched an investigation into the incident but does not wish to comment further.
