Chinese Weride has been given the green light to test its self-driving Robotaxi cars at night on public roads in a special zone in Beijing designated for advanced autonomous driving, according to a press release.

The tests, which take place between 10pm and 7am, mark an important step towards launching 24/7 driverless vehicle service in the city.
The initiative is considered strategically important to validate the company's technology under challenging conditions, such as darkness, rain and snow.
The cars are equipped with over 20 sensors and a self-cleaning sensor system to ensure safe operation regardless of the weather.
