For many Swedes, it seems to be increasingly important to travel comfortably. According to new data from the hotel and travel search site momondo searches for premium flight options have increased by up to 73 percent for travel in September–October compared to July–August. At the same time, nearly a third of Swedes say they would consider flying in a different cabin class or booking more expensive accommodation than their travel companions can afford.
For travel in September–October, there is a clear increase in interest in premium flight options compared to the summer months. Searches for first class and premium economy flights have increased by 73 and 55 percent respectively, while prices have decreased slightly. Searches for business class have also increased by 67 percent for travel in September and October compared to the previous two months – despite average ticket prices having risen by 15 percent.

A momondo survey also shows that some Swedish travelers are not prepared to compromise on comfort – even if it means flying in a different class than their travel companions. Almost a third of Swedes (32 percent) would consider flying in a different cabin class or booking more expensive accommodation than their travel companions can afford.
– A growing demand for more comfortable alternatives on flights may indicate that many travelers no longer see flying as just a means of transportation, but as part of the journey itself. When investing both time and money in traveling, many want to treat themselves to a little extra comfort – even if it means the experience is not always fully shared with the traveling party, says Julie Astrid Thomsen, press officer at momondo.
But even though many people are happy to invest in a more luxurious trip for themselves, the survey also shows that generosity is still alive. Almost one in five Swedes (19 percent) would consider upgrading their fellow travelers, just so that the whole group can travel together.
On the data: Based on flight searches made on momondo.se between 01.02.2025 and 31.07.2025 for flights departing between 01.09.2025 and 31.10.2025 from any airport in Sweden. They were compared to searches between 01.12.2024 and 31.05.2025 for flights departing between 01.07.2025 and 31.08.2025. About momondo's survey: Unless otherwise stated, all figures are based on an online survey conducted by The Ripple Effect on behalf of WALR. A total of 1,029 Swedish adults who plan to travel within the next three years participated. The fieldwork was conducted between March 21 and March 24, 2025. The survey was conducted online.
