The Skansens Foundation is introducing free admission for children between the ages of 0 and 15. The decision will come into effect on October 7, 2025 and marks an investment in increased accessibility and all children's right to culture.
– There is so much important and engaging to take part in and experience at Skansen – culture, nature, history, knowledge and reflections on how people have lived through time and live now. With a changed pricing that includes free admission for children, we are lowering the thresholds for more people. All children and families, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to experience Skansen, says Maria Groop Russel, CEO of Skansen. As one of Sweden's most visited cultural institutions, Skansen has long worked to increase accessibility for children and young people in various ways. The government's guidelines include the mission to give children access to culture, but with current government support, a free admission reform has not been possible. After many years of petitions, Skansen has now chosen to implement this reform with its own funds. – Cultural experiences are a fundamental right for all children. Skansen has an important role to play here, says Maria Groop Russel. In parallel with the investment in free admission, Skansen is developing both museum offerings, educational activities, a zoo, events and food and drink experiences – all with the aim of making Skansen an even more inspiring and engaging place for more people. The investment is financed through a small increase in the annual pass and the entrance fee for adults.
Prices for pensioners and students remain unchanged. The free admission reform for children 0-15 years old is being implemented in conjunction with Skansen changing its ticket system on October 7. The system change will make it easier and faster to buy entrance tickets and annual passes online. At the same time, a price differentiation for online and at the cash register will be implemented.

One-day ticket children (0-15 years): Free admission Prices apply to online purchases. When purchasing at Skansen's entrance, an administrative fee of 25 SEK will be added.
