Gröna Lund, Kolmården and Furuvik will all break visitor records during this year's Halloween. In total, the parks will attract close to 290,000 guests - a success that shows how Halloween has become one of the theme parks' strongest and most beloved seasons.
In just a few years, Halloween has gone from being something new to becoming one of the Swedes' most beloved holidays and a highlight of the theme park season. With this year's strong visitor numbers, it is already clear that Parks and Resorts is breaking a new Halloween record. Gröna Lund is tentatively expected to welcome up to 150,000 guests, Kolmården up to 100,000 guests and Furuvik over 40,000 guests - which means that the parks together will attract up to 290,000 guests. This makes this year's Halloween the most well-visited season ever.
“It’s a big investment to transform the parks from summer worlds into exciting Halloween environments, but it has also become one of our most appreciated investments. We reuse a lot and rotate theming between the parks, which makes it both financially and environmentally sustainable,” says Joanna Hammar, vice president of Parks and Resorts.
This year's Halloween has offered a combination of news and traditions. At Gröna Lund, the pentathlon was Halloween-themed and the horror areas were filled to the brim, Kolmården attracted families to both coziness and thrills where, among other things, three missing horror houses returned, and at Furuvik, Halloween was celebrated with Pelle Svanslös and his friends, new horror areas and sold-out Horror Nights.
– Our strength lies in the fact that each park has its own character. It is fantastic to see how both guests and employees have embraced Halloween as a concept. It shows that the adventure parks are no longer a summer phenomenon – we create magic all year round, says Joanna Hammar.
