In recent years, Danes have increasingly chosen the Swedish mountains as their winter favorite. Now Stena Line, SkiStar and Sembo are making it even easier to get away by launching new, complete ski holiday solutions where ferry, accommodation, meals and lift passes are combined in one convenient booking.

In recent years, Danes have become increasingly interested in spending their winter holidays in the Swedish mountains, and everything indicates that the trend will continue in the upcoming winter season. The winter holidays have become a peak season for ski-loving families, and both Stena Line and SkiStar have seen clear increases in the number of Danish bookings in recent years.

Now Stena Line, SkiStar and Sembo are taking the next step to attract even more ski-loving Danes from the otherwise popular alpine ski resorts by launching new, complete ski holiday solutions. Solutions that combine ferry travel, meals on board, lift passes and accommodation – all in one simple booking. The aim is to make it easier, more convenient and even more attractive for Danes to go on a ski holiday in Sweden.

”We see that the Danes have really taken the Swedish mountains to their hearts – perhaps because they appreciate not having to travel so far to ski, perhaps because the snow conditions further south have become more uncertain. Whatever the reason, the winter holidays have become an obvious highlight, with many choosing to travel with Stena Line to get to the slopes quickly and comfortably. With our new complete ski holiday solutions we make it even easier – you book once, and then everything is arranged,” says Ulf Staaff, Travel Commercial Manager at Stena Line.

A stable collaboration

The collaboration between Stena Line, SkiStar and Sembo builds on a strong ski season in 2025. During week 7, Stena Line experienced 34 percent more Danish ski travelers compared to the previous year. At the same time, the company has seen positive development in the coach segment, with an increase of 10–15 percent since 2022. The new complete ski holiday solutions will help maintain this growth and make the trip to the Swedish mountains both easier and more enjoyable for the many Danes who seek out the snow every year.

The new ski holiday solutions can be booked via sembo.dk and stenaline.dk and include several of SkiStar's most popular Swedish ski resorts - including Sälen, Åre and Vemdalen.
