Fatal train accident near Machu Picchu

One person has died and at least 40 people have been injured when two trains collided head-on near the Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru, AFP reports.

The deceased person was a conductor on one of the trains, according to local authorities.

Machu Picchu is one of Latin America's largest tourist attractions with an average of around 4,500 visitors each day.
