After years of expansion, Svenska Husbilsgruppen, one of Sweden's largest players in motorhomes, has now been forced to file for bankruptcy of several of its companies. The motoring site reports Carup.  

The Swedish Motorhome Group, which as recently as a year ago bought up Hobby Fritid in Tenhult and thus became one of Sweden's largest players in motorhomes, had a combined annual turnover of around 500 million SEK. 

On Friday, however, the group filed for bankruptcy for several companies, including Hobby Fritid in Tenhult, with 17 employees and a turnover of SEK 157 million.

Another company is Husbilsgruppen in Norrtälje, which sold under the name Svea Husbilar. The company had a turnover of 133 million kronor and had four employees. The same applies to Husbilsgruppen in Kinna, with a turnover of 133 million kronor and ten employees, and Husbilsgruppen in Mora, which had a turnover of 60 million kronor and had three employees. 

The parent company Svenska Husbilsgruppen and the guarantee company Svensk Husbilsgaranti have also been declared bankrupt.

Carup notes that the company writes in its latest annual report that the motorhome industry in Sweden has had major challenges after the pandemic.

”2024 was one of the most difficult years for the industry, with major challenges in all business areas. The aftermath of the Covid pandemic is still tangible, not least because many manufacturers delivered large quantities of motorhomes and caravans to a market that began to weaken after Covid in 2022. Inventory levels became too high, interest rates rose and customers failed to show up. Those dealers who failed to reduce their goods and operating costs, combined with increasing revenues in the workshops, were hit hard in both 2023 and 2024.”
