Tourism in Halland continues to increase, and is doing so at record speed. According to preliminary figures from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, Halland is one of the regions that has increased the number of guest nights the most in all of Sweden in 2025. And, in accordance with the work of Visit Halland and the municipalities, it is above all the number of foreign guest nights that has increased.
– These are incredibly good numbers and it's great that Halland continues to grow! What's especially pleasing is that we're not only growing in the Swedish market, but that the increase is primarily due to more German, Danish and Norwegian guests finding their way here. And that they are also increasingly coming to Halland outside of the high season, says Jimmy Sandberg, operations manager at Visit Halland.
According to the preliminary figures, Halland's increase is well above the national average in terms of both national and international guest nights, and all Halland municipalities have seen nice increases in foreign guests in particular. And even though more and more visitors have opened their eyes to Halland, the potential remains great.
– We have long been a holiday favorite in Sweden, but Halland is still an unknown gem for most people in Germany, Denmark and Norway. We also know that much of what is demanded for a good holiday experience is exactly what is available here in Halland. That is why we are working hard to increase awareness of Halland primarily in international markets and it is very gratifying to see that it is yielding such great results, says Jimmy Sandberg.
New report shows continued potential for southern Sweden
The new Fehmarn Belt connection is planned to be in place in 2029, which will make Halland's geographical location even more competitive. Region Halland, together with Visit Skåne and the City of Malmö, has initiated the report Road and rail transport of the future - scenarios for the development of the transport system and the tourism industry in southern Sweden. – Both the Fehmarn Belt connection and the expansion of Kastrup are expected to be of great importance to the tourism industry in southern Sweden when the journey to us becomes shorter and we end up in the heart of a contiguous area with over 12 million inhabitants within reasonable travel distance.
