Several of the aircraft used by the US government will receive a new colour palette.

When the new design is in place, the presidential plane, among other things, will be painted in the colours blue, red, white, and gold.

The current design, which originated during John F Kennedy's presidency in the 1960s, includes white and two shades of blue, among other colours. However, the US Air Force has now announced that the colours will be changed, Reuters reports.

President Donald Trump already proposed a new design during his first term, combining red, white, and blue – similar to the country's flag. He now appears to be getting his way, but with the addition of gold.

The American state has previously ordered new presidential aircraft, which will carry the updated colour combination upon delivery.
