Hundreds of passengers have been stranded at sea off Karlskrona aboard the Polish ferry Stena Ebba since Thursday. It reports SVT Blekinge.
The traffic chaos in the port of Karlskrona started when another Polish ferry, Stena Spirit, was due to dock on Wednesday. The ship was damaged during docking and has not been able to leave since. Stena Ebba left Poland on Thursday morning but is still waiting to be accommodated in the port. Out at sea, frustration is growing among passengers.
– It feels like we are a pawn in a game, a way for Stena Line to put pressure on Swedish authorities to release Stena Spirit from the port, says a traveler and continues:
– There are sick passengers here and the medicines are running out.
Stena Line's press manager Johan Live says they understand the frustration, but that they are waiting for approval from authorities.
– But we can't do much more than wait for the Swedish Transport Agency's approval, he says.
